Malou Paul (1987, Netherlands) lives and works in Alphen aan den Rijn. Part owner of Galerie [con]temporary. Member of Kunstgroep Wassenaar. Malou Paul graduated in 2009 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem. After studying at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and following a goldsmithing course, Malou found a studio in 2011 and started her own jewellery label.
The jewellery of Malou Paul distinguishes itself by the feeling of nostalgia it radiates. This feeling is attained by the (re)use of materials, such as old doorknobs, (old) zinc, old postcards, wool, combined with precious metals and Paul's sources of inspiration, like mourning jewellery, victorian jewellery and traditional costume/folklore. Also nature, in all it’s different appearances, is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for beautiful shapes and colors.
